Stylist Spotlight: Crystal “Styles” Hawkins

Name:Crystal "Styles" Hawkins

Salon: Coming Soon;) FreeLancing until then

Location: Everywhere

When did you begin styling hair?

Really young, I'd say @7 with my younger siblings, dolls and friends

What influenced you to become a hair stylist?

Picture Days at school;) my mom did her best, but I just always wanted to add a little #style to it and it just never ended;)

What are some protective styling techniques you offer? (ie. Sew-ins, keratin fusion, Malaysian sew-in)

I do offer various types of extension methods which are excellent forms of protection against excessive heat on your natural hair. (when installed properly) I am a natural hair stylist, all of my clients have gone and are natural. I make custom wigs for those wanting as well to give the hair a break. Anything else I may not have mentioned and you are inquiring about, feel free to ask;)

Which of the techniques that you offer is your favorite? Why?

I would definitely say that I like the Extensions primarily From the results that I have seen. The hair improves from length to thickness. It's guaranteed;) I've got #growing hands, and I've got the clients to prove it.

What is your go-to hair product?

#Pravana intensive leave in conditioning treatment. Its a miracle in a spray bottle. Don't take my word for it. Get it!

What product do you suggest for protection against heat?

I love the protective serum from #Mizani. From the lightweight feel of the finish, the great smell, to the way it leaves the natural hair feeling. Nairobi #FoamWrap is also excellent for protection. No flaking. Great product

What are three suggestions you would give to women about achieving healthy hair?

  1. Healthy hair starts from within. Taking your vitamins daily, water intake, and scalp massages on a regular.
  2. Go Natural! Not saying to go "coldturkey", but Think deeply about transitioning. Deep Condition regularly to prevent breakage from the transition. Clip ends every 2 months or so to help the process.
  3. Loyalty is #key. If your Stylist is taking care of your hair, making it grow, and making it look and feel healthy, why go anywhere else? Don't keep switching up who's taking care of your hair.
